Entering Dates in a WebSheet
OneTeam WebSheets support both excel long and short date formats.
However dates entered or edited in a webSheet must be entered in a specific way in order to display correctly.
Before attempting to enter or edit a date in a webSheet, make sure your webSheet is in edit mode (Click: “Switch to Edit Mode” on the top right hand side of webSheet).
Using the Date Picker Pop-up
The easiest way to enter a date in a webSheet is via the date picker pop-up. You can access this pop-up by double-clicking on the cell where you want the date to appear, or by clicking on the small arrow in the top right hand corner of the cell. Click on the required date in the calendar and it will display correctly in your cell in either short date or long date format, according to the formatting of the cell in the Excel file uploaded.
Entering a Date Manually
Entering a date manually will only result in correct display for both long and short date formats when the date is entered in one of the the following ways: “Day (1 or 2 digits), Month (abbreviated or full) Year (1 or 2 digits)”.
eg “01 January 2001” and “1 jan 01” will both display correctly as long format or short format dates.
Note: when the year is entered with 2 digits, values from 00 to 49 will appear as years 2000 - 2049 and values from 50-99 will appear as years 1950-1999. If you would like a different result, you will need to enter 4 digits for the year.
It is possible to enter dates manually in other formats, but these will not display correctly for both cells displaying long dates and cells display short dates.
Additional Date Entry formats for Short Format date display only:
In addition to the methods described above, dates can be manually entered in a cell displaying dates in short format by entering DD/MM/YYYY.
eg. “31/01/2024”.
It is important to note that entering a date in this format will not result in a correct display if the cell is formatted to display the date in long date format.
Additional Date Entry formats for Long Format date display only:
In addition to the methods described above, dates can be manually entered in a cell displaying dates in long format by entering:”Month (abbreviated or in full) Day of Month (1 or 2 digits) Year (2 or 4 digits)”.
eg. “January 01 2000”, “Jan 01 2000”, “January 1 00”, or “Jan 1 2000” would all result in a correct display in cells with long date formatting.
It is important to note that entering a date in this format will not result in a correct display if the cell is formatted to display the date in short date format.
